Bessie Hale Reese, 91, of 465 Andrew Hale Road, Littleton, N. C., died Sunday December 19, 2010, at University Health Care Hospice in Greenville.  Mrs. Reese was born August 22, 1919, to the late O. J. Harrell and Lizzie Harrell Harrell. She was also predeceased by her husbands, Andrew Hale and Rev. W. T. Reese, and one son, James Woodrow Hale.

She loved her church and loved cooking for everyone who came to her home. The family would like to acknowledge with special appreciation to the care given by Laura Bunn, Ann Simmons, and Glynn Barbour, and also express their thanks to all her other caregivers.

Mrs. Reese is survived by her daughter-in-law, Meltha H. Adams of Halifax; her sons, Robert Earl Hale and wife, Jean, of Enfield, and Collin Hale and wife, Dean, of Rocky Mount, and her daughter, Nan Hale Carpenter, and her husband, Ronald W. Carpenter, Sr., of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Michael and Ronald Hale, Ramona Solomon, Sylvia Dickens, Tracey Hale Mayo, Andy and Angela Hale, Ron Carpenter, Jr., and Jewell Wilson, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service conducted by Rev. Ronald W. Carpenter, Sr. and Rev. Ron Carpenter, Jr. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Enfield.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 7 – 9 P.M.
