Upper S.C. Conference Makes History

The Upper South Carolina Conference made IPHC history with key changes to their structure and leadership at their 2010 conference.

The conference instituted a new electoral process for conference leadership.  Rather than nominating and electing each leadership position, the conference voted to elect a slate of officers.  Each nominee for conference superintendent provided a slate of officers that included the assistant superintendent and conference secretary/treasurer. The nominees and their slates were submitted prior to the quadrennial conference, along with a resume of each nominee’s qualifications.

Under this new structure, the conference elected Rev. Ray Boggs as superintendent.  Boggs replaces Dr. Ronald Moore, who transitioned his ministry this summer.

“The Upper South Carolina Conference Executive Council desired to set the pace for the International Pentecostal Holiness Church in conference structure,” said Boggs.  “I believe this is the ‘New Wineskin’ that will allow the New Wine of the Holy Spirit to freely flow within all of our conferences and churches.”

Boggs’s electoral slate included Rev. Brent Lollis as assistant superintendent and Mrs. Donna Lance as secretary/treasurer.  Lance is the first woman to serve in a elected position in the conference.

“I am humbled by the trust and confidence the great people of the Upper South Carolina Conference have bestowed upon me,” she said. “It is an honor and a privilege to be serving with Bishop Ray Boggs and Rev. Brent Lollis. We are excited to be a part of what God is doing in the Upper South Carolina Conference and in the International Pentecostal Holiness Church!”

The Great Plains Conference, led by Bishop Gary Burd, has also adopted this electoral process.
